The Club has worked with the London Wasps Community Partner team to arrange a number of events for the 2008 / 2009 season.
All minis and youth members are now invited to attend a Match Day Coach Class and then watch London Wasps play Saracens.
This will be an amazing day out for the mini and youth sections (and parents, siblings and friends!) and is a great pre-Christmas family day out. The day will commence around 8am at the club and then coach transport (with club songs and Choir) to High Wycombe for the following:
- 2-hour high quality coaching session at the Royal Grammar School, High Wycombe, the Community Match Day Training Venue. Coaching from 10am to 12pm (subject to the Match Kick Off time) by RFU Qualified and CRB Enhance Disclosure Certificated Community Coaching Team. Coaching sessions designed to cover a range of core rugby skills and game understanding
- A Match Day Ticket in the Dreams Stand at Adams Park (with Sting!)
- Certificate and London Wasps 08/09 beanie hat for each participating player
- Group photograph on the Adams Park pitch
- PA Announcement and Welcome in the Match Day Programme
The cost is £20 per participant for all of the above. Non-participants costs are - Adults £15 for each match day ticket and £10 for children under 16, full time students, and OAPs (over 60!). Coach costs are extra but will be cheaper if we have a large group attending!
Deadline for registration is 31st October 2008. Please register with Dave French as soon as possible so that we can get transport organised.
We intend to use our attendance at this event this year as the boys Christmas function so please - Money to Dave French ASAP.
We now have a full squad of 23 and a total Tour party of 51 committed to next year's tour to Wales - a big thank you to you all for your time and patience in getting this venture up off the ground. Please remember to keep an eye on the payment plan, letting Dave have the funds in good time. We will post reminders on the site when a payment is due and will be writing to each of you that have signed up via e-mail shortly. Duncan will now be working on the advanced planning to ensure that we have our usual great time and we will be keeping you all regularly informed of progress. In the mean time if you want to remind yourself of what you have signed up to please follow the link that appears below. (Pat 14/10/2008)
New Under 15 Message Forum
The Club has today introduced message boards for all age groups and additionally for particular subjects, such as the recently announced Wasps initiative. Consequently the Cougars now have their own message board available via the quick links section of our site. You will need to register before you can begin to post. We urge all Cougars to grasp this opportunity and enjoy the board - but do please remember to use it responsibly. (Tracey and Pat 18/09/2008)
Kent County Trials and a new Cougars website sponsor
Firstly, our hearty congratulations go to all the boys from our group who were nominated for the Kent County Trials that took place during the summer. Consequently we are very proud to announce that Fergus Stewart has made the final Kent County squad at under 15 level this season – well done Fergus and the best of luck. Secondly, you may have noticed a link to our new Cougar website sponsor, The Gillingham Clinic of Complimentary Medicine, on the welcome page. As part of this sponsorship deal the Clinic has agreed to offer a special rate for our boys (Cougars) requiring any osteopathic treatment during the course of the season. So if any of the boys suffer any odd aches and pains during the season do feel free to give the clinic a call and ask to see Jon Leigh for an appointment. (Mark and Pat 08/09/2008)
A New Season
Well lads without any further ado - COME ON MEDWAY. Now I've got that off my chest I'd like to welcome you all to the new website which I am sure you will agree is absolutely fantastic. It's very much a work in progress so do feel free to share any ideas you may have to enhance and improve the site with Tracey and Pat, who I know will welcome your input. Anyway, I thought I'd just take this opportunity to give you an idea of our plans for this coming season at under 15 level. At the moment we have approximately 20 games planned home and away, plus tournaments and a tour. Therefore with this busy schedule ahead of us we will be returning to full training on Tuesday 26 August at 6:30pm sharp. Each week one of the lads will take it in turns to lead the warm up between 6:30 and 6:45pm which will be based on one of the four key skills. During the main sessions we will be concentrating on our game plan. We also intend to time players over a 60 meter dash throughout the season, encouraging you all to increase and improve your speed - we might even time the coaches to. After our return on 26 August training will return to twice weekly (Sundays 10am till noon and Tuesdays 6:30 until 7:30pm) unless we have a match - just keep an eye out on the website. Our first planned fixture is Tunbridge Wells away on 28 September although we are trying to get an away fixture for 21 September so watch this space. On the subject of fixtures a mention must go to John who has agreed to be our fixture secretary this season. Similarly Pete has agreed to write up the match reports whilst Paul has agreed to be our match day photographer - a big hand to them all. On a slightly different note John, Graham and Pat all secured their RFU referee qualifications this summer and are available with their ACME Thunderer whistles for selection this season, so you have been warned lads. Well that's enough from me for now lads - enjoy the break, use the website and see you all on the 26 August (Mark, 01/08/2008)
